Our packaging and raw materials are all chosen with sustainability as the primary focus.

PLANTING TREES

We plant at least one tree for every print we sell, with a goal of planting 1 million trees by 2030

ECO-FRIENDLY LOGISTICS

For all canvas prints, we print the order close to its delivery destination, reducing emissions.

THE OFFLEY GREEN PLEDGE

We'll plant at least one tree for every print ordered, and we're on a mission to plant 1 million trees by the end of 2030. Trees clean our air and water, create habitat for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. That’s why Offley Green supports reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model, planting as many as 20 trees per print sold, depending on the size of the artwork.

Why 1 million trees?

The number 1 million has always captured the imagination of humanity, and for a small, family run business like Offley Green, setting the tree planting goal for 1 million felt lofty enough to be a significant stretch goal, while remaining within the realms of possibility. It is also a legacy that we feel we could be proud of.

1 million trees creates

20,000 acres of forest

The number of trees per acre of forest varies pretty widely, depending on the location of the forest, the local climate, the types of trees growing there, and so on. A managed forest in North America will have between 40 and 60 trees per acre. Assuming that the average forest worldwide contains around 50 trees per acre, 1 million trees is the same as planting 20,000 acres of forest. That’s an area of more than 15,000 football fields!

1 million trees provides

Oxygen for 2 million people

Did you know that a mature tree generates enough oxygen for two people to breathe? This means that one million mature trees can supply oxygen for two million individuals! That's nearly enough to support the entire population of New Mexico.

1 million trees creates

A New habitat for animals

The trees we plant together create essential habitats for wildlife globally. Around 80% of land-based species depend on forests and trees for sustenance, shelter, and other needs. Research has shown that introducing a single tree into an open pasture can boost the number of bird species from nearly zero to 80. And that's the impact of just one tree!

1 million trees provides

Healthy food for Humans

Fruit trees are included in the planting plans OneTreePlanted, supporting farmers in overcoming the challenges of monocrop farming and supplying healthy, nutrient-rich foods to underserved communities. Among these is the mango tree, which can yield up to 300 mangoes annually when it reaches 20 years of age! While mango trees are just one example, planting a million fruit trees can significantly boost food production.

1 million trees creates

A more stable environment

Trees not only generate the oxygen we need to breathe, but they also absorb carbon dioxide. A mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide annually, helping to stabilize our climate and mitigate the effects of climate change. Planting one million trees can absorb around 24,000 tons of carbon dioxide each year, equivalent to removing 6,000 cars from the road annually!

1 million trees provides

1,087 carbon neutral people

Imagine your life – your commute to work, running the air conditioner in the summer, your once a year flight for a vacation, and so on. Now picture your life 1,087 times over. That’s how much carbon dioxide 1 million fully grown trees will absorb. That breaks down to around 920 trees per person.

USING SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

  • We bucked the industry trend of using clear cellophane print envelopes to present and protect our prints, instead using Glassine Paper envelopes that are fully recyclable in all community recycling programs, while still delivering artwork prints in pristine condition.
  • We converted our home based studio (and also our whole home) to use electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
  • We have stopped using plastic bubble wrap and now use Spiral tissue paper void-fill as a unique and sustainable alternative to traditional crinkle fill and packing peanuts when shipping large framed prints from our studio.
  • We sourced a canvas print fulfillment partner that diverts print orders to be processed in the facility closest to where the order is being delivered, cutting down on emissions through shipping over long distances.
  • All the wood in our picture frames and stretched canvas frames comes from FSC certified renewable forests.
  • We switched from using glass in our frames to acrylic plexiglass. While fully recyclable like glass, plexiglass uses much less energy in its manufacturing and recycling process. Whereas glass needs to be heated to extremely high temperatures to achieve the same results.
